What are the benefits of timber windows?

If you’re looking for windows that provide a warm and inviting look and can suit a variety of architectural styles, our timber frame windows may be the ideal solution. Timber windows are a traditional choice, and they have remained popular for good reason.

Here are some of the top benefits you can enjoy when we install our custom timber windows:

Sustainability

Wooden windows are an excellent eco-conscious choice. We pride ourselves on being as environmentally responsible as possible and are FSC-certified. All of our timber is sourced sustainably, following Forestry Stewardship Council guidelines

Durability

Timber is also an incredibly strong and long-lasting material. With the right care, it will keep your property looking its best for years to come.

A welcoming aesthetic

We work with a range of wood types, including European redwood (pine), sapele, meranti, and American oak. Each timber brings a unique, natural look that’s incredibly warm and welcoming, suiting both period and contemporary properties.

Design
versatility

Because you can paint and varnish timber windows, you can personalise them, ensuring they match your property’s aesthetic.

We can customise your windows using your choice of RAL, Farrow & Ball, or Litlle Green paint. Alternatively, we can stain and varnish them to highlight the natural nuances of the timber.

Excellent insulation

Particularly when paired with double or triple glazing, timber windows can help insulate your property, keeping your energy bills and your carbon footprint low.

Timber window FAQs

How long do timber windows last?

How long your timber windows last depends on the type of wood used and how well you take care of them. With the right maintenance, high-quality wooden windows can last for 60 years or more, making them an excellent investment.

Choosing between timber and uPVC windows mostly comes down to personal preference. Timber frame windows offer a more rustic and natural aesthetic than uPVC, however, they also need a little more upkeep to ensure they retain their look. It’s also worth noting that timber windows are more eco-friendly than uPVC alternatives, as they can be repaired if
damaged rather than discarded and replaced.

To keep your timber windows fresh, it can be helpful to add a protective sealant to the wood once or twice a year.
